Nova Direita is questioning the operational management of the Public Security Police (PSP) following the accident that caused the death of a motorcyclist on Estrada da Liberdade in Funchal.
According to the party, citing information from PSP professionals, three police vehicles were mobilized to the scene but lacked the necessary traffic equipment, requiring one to return to the station to collect it. Nova Direita questions if this situation is related to the reorganization of Funchal's Accident Brigade and demands reasons and risk assessments for this decision.
The party also requests clarification on the number of officers and resources previously assigned to the brigade, the current resources, and the reason for the dependency on station equipment. Regional coordinator Paulo Azevedo emphasizes that the criticism is directed at the organizational decisions of the police deployment, not the officers on the ground.
