The São Vicente Municipal Council has excluded a businessman from the draw for the 2026 São Vicente Festivities, where he intended to sell crepes. Businessman Mohamed Omar, from EIDO – Crepes & Strawberry, argued that he sold sweet crepes and other items, but the council deemed the activity unsuitable for the designated zone.
The council clarified that Zone D was intended for "costume jewelry, sweets (candies), toys, and clothing," with "sweets" specifically referring to traditional candies, and no on-site preparation allowed. The businessman countered, asserting that the definition of "sweet" is broader and his offerings included sweet crepes.
The 2026 São Vicente Festivities Procedure Program divides event spaces into five zones, with Zone D designated for these specific items. Other zones are allocated for food and drink stalls, with certain restrictions.
