Cristiano Ronaldo has left the Portuguese National Football team's training camp in Copenhagen, on the eve of the match against Denmark for the UEFA Nations League. The captain announced the decision on social media, following a press conference by national coach Jorge Jesus and a conversation with the FPF president, Pedro Proença.
In an Instagram post, Ronaldo justified his departure by stating the need to later explain "the truth to all Portuguese people" about the reasons for leaving the national team. The FPF officially confirmed his exit, assuring that preparations for the matches against Denmark and Norway would continue with the remaining 24 called-up players.
The incident follows a period of tension between Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus, who had benched the player in the previous game. According to FPF Disciplinary Regulations, a player who leaves a training camp without justification can face suspension ranging from 1 to 6 months in national team games and activities.
