The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, has congratulated Bernardo Pereira, an athlete from Clube Naval da Calheta, on becoming the under-23 world champion for the second time in SS1.
The victory took place at the World Sea Kayaking Championships in La Vila Joiosa, Spain, where Pereira successfully defended the title he won in 2025.
In his message, the President of the Republic praised Pereira's talent, determination, and resilience, stating that his achievements "honor the Autonomous Region of Madeira and Portugal" and "serve as an example for new generations of athletes." Congratulations were also extended to his coaching team, club, regional and national canoeing associations, and his family.
