The Dancilhas festival, an event celebrating world music and dances, is returning to Madeira Island from October 16th to 18th.
Organized by Associação Rodopio Pitoresco, with support from the Funchal City Council and the Parish Council of São Martinho, the festival will be held at the Jardim da Junta de Freguesia de São Martinho in Funchal. The event aims to revive the practice of traditional dances, offering participants a cultural journey through dance and music workshops, concerts, and local crafts.
The program features workshops on Estonian, Alentejo, and Swedish dances, traditional Madeiran music, and concerts with artists from various backgrounds, including Furnas do Cavalum (Madeira & Estonia), Trovadores de Rua (Madeira), Anders & Maria Larsson (Sweden), and Parapente700 (Lisbon). Sunday will be dedicated to a community picnic, games, and social gatherings.
