During the early hours of Tuesday, October 6th, a deliberate attack occurred at the Porto Santo golf course expansion site, resulting in significant damage to three construction machines (diggers) and a crane truck owned by Socicorreia.
According to a company source, the incident took place between 01:30 and 02:00. The windows of the three machines were smashed, and their hydraulic cables were cut. The crane truck was set on fire, damaging its cab and part of the container it was carrying.
Socicorreia has filed a complaint against unknown individuals, and the Judicial Police will be investigating. The company believes the damage was caused intentionally and estimates losses could reach €1 million, though the final cost is yet to be determined. The incident is expected to delay construction while the equipment is repaired or replaced.
