The arrival of the Egyptian national football team in Dallas, to compete in the Copa's round of 16, was marked by an incident involving police officers, coaching staff members, and players.
A video shows assistant coach Ibrahim Hassan arguing with an officer after an approach during the delegation's reception. According to the Egyptian Federation, the incident began after a fan was treated inappropriately by security personnel, and the team merely requested respect for the supporter.
Despite the tension, the team proceeded with their training as scheduled. The police officer involved in the episode was removed from the escort following a request from the Egyptian consulate in Dallas. The African team is competing in a World Cup knockout stage for the first time.
