The European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis, will visit the region tomorrow, Tuesday, to gain firsthand knowledge of the Madeiran fishing sector's reality.
At 8:15 AM, the official will be at the Funchal Fish Market, where, accompanied by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, he will board a swordfish vessel to directly engage with industry professionals.
The visit takes place as Madeira advocates before European institutions for a review of regulations hindering the renewal of the swordfish fleet, aiming for more modern, safe, and efficient vessels.
