Madeira stood out positively in the national labor market in June, with a 10.7% year-on-year reduction in registered unemployment. This figure positions the region as second in the country for the most significant drop, trailing only the North region.
Data released by IEFP shows that the number of registered unemployed individuals fell to 4,998 in June, a decrease of 600 compared to the same month last year. Nationally, registered unemployment dropped by 9.9%.
Compared to the previous month, unemployment in Madeira also decreased by 6.8%, surpassing the national reduction of 3.7%. The region also saw the largest year-on-year decrease in job seeking, with 15.0% fewer registrations, and the highest monthly growth in placements, up by 23.5%.
