The transition to summer 2026 brought the first tropical night of the year to the Autonomous Region of Madeira, with seven out of 19 IPMA stations recording minimum temperatures above 20°C. Notably, the Porto Santo station experienced its first tropical night of 2026.
Porto Moniz was the location with the warmest night, registering a minimum of 21.8°C and a maximum of 24.4°C. In Porto Santo, the minimum temperature was 20.4°C and the maximum was 21.8°C. Other stations experiencing tropical nights included Santa Cruz/Airport, Funchal/Observatory, Funchal/Lido, Ponta do Sol/Lugar de Baixo, and Caniçal/Ponta de São Lourenço.
The dawn of the first day of summer was also marked by precipitation across much of the region, with the exception of the Santa Cruz/Airport, Funchal/Observatory, Caniçal/Ponta de São Lourenço, and Selvagem Grande stations. Ponta de São Jorge recorded the highest rainfall accumulation by 10 AM.
