A candle left forgotten on a balcony is believed to have caused a fire in an apartment on Rua Nova da Quinta Deão, in Funchal, on Tuesday night.
Firefighters from the Funchal Sapadores were alerted at 8:20 pm and deployed three vehicles, an ambulance and 11 personnel. The Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters also sent an ambulance to the scene.
The fire was put out, and crews were ventilating the premises. No injuries have been reported.
