The regional MP for Chega in Madeira, Miguel Castro, has announced his separation from the party and his intention to become an independent member of parliament.
Castro, who recently led the party in the region, communicated his decision, marking a break with the national leadership of André Ventura.
This move means Chega loses its official parliamentary representation in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, with the MP now pursuing an individual path.
