Funchal is celebrating its 518th anniversary as a city with a free symphonic concert at Parque de Santa Catarina on August 20th at 9:30 PM.
The event, organized by the Funchal City Council, will feature the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira and the Serbian group ABBA Real Tribute in a show titled 'ABBA Symphonic'. Conducted by maestro Mikica Jevtić, the concert aims to take the audience on a journey through the Swedish band's greatest hits, blending orchestral sounds with the tribute band's performance.
The setlist includes hits like 'Waterloo', 'Dancing Queen', and 'The Winner Takes It All'. The initiative seeks to bring different generations together through the music of ABBA, with ABBA Real Tribute recreating the band's performances, costumes, and choreography. The Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, established 62 years ago, will also participate.
