The city of Funchal will celebrate its City Day on August 21, marking 518 years since its elevation to city status. This year's festivities will take place from August 17 to 27, featuring a diverse program of cultural, traditional, sporting, and institutional events.
The highlight of the celebrations includes a Solemn Session on the 21st at the Paços do Concelho. The previous evening, the 20th, Santa Catarina Park will host a free concert featuring Abba Symphonic and the Madeira Classical Orchestra.
The Mayor of Funchal, Jorge Carvalho, emphasized the significance of the occasion and the breadth of the program, which will unfold across various public spaces in the city.
