Funchal Mobility Week Opens with Exhibition on the Evolution of Mobility in the City

The Funchal City Council has kicked off European Mobility Week, themed ‘Mobility for all – justice between generations’. The opening featured the exhibition ‘Mobility in Funchal. The Path to Sustainability!’, held at the City Hall Atrium and attended by Mayor Jorge Carvalho.

The initiative, promoted by the European Union, aims to foster reflection on the impacts of mobility on the environment, safety, and quality of life, with the goal of making Funchal a more inclusive city. The exhibition details the evolution of mobility in the municipality, implemented measures such as the Sustainable Urban Mobility Action Plan, and future challenges, including an 89.5% increase in insured vehicles between 2000 and 2025.

Until September 22nd, the council is organizing various activities on sustainable mobility, road safety, and active mobility, with a program designed for all ages, including awareness campaigns and recreational activities for children and youth.
