JPP councillors on Funchal's municipal council have marked the first anniversary of the PSD/CDS majority's term by calling it "a lost year" for the city's residents.
Fátima Aveiro and António Trindade asked whether any Funchal resident, business owner, worker or young person can say they live better in the city today, pointing to the rising cost of living and the lack of housing.
The JPP says its proposals, including more land for affordable public housing, higher rental support and greater competition in the food sector, were all rejected by the majority. The councillors also accused the council of acting on the orders of the regional government at Quinta Vigia.
