The office of the president of the Madeira Legislative Assembly (ALRAM) has announced that a bill from the Chega parliamentary group on tax exemptions has not been admitted.
The proposal, addressed to the national Assembly of the Republic, sought to exempt from social security contributions overtime, night-shift pay, productivity bonuses and Christmas and holiday allowances for employees. The review found shortcomings, including an unclear identification of the law to be amended and uncertainty over the scope of the changes and the nature of the proposed tax benefit.
The decision, taken under the ALRAM rules of procedure, rests solely on formal requirements and does not judge the authors, their political aims or the merits of the measures.
