Madeira is taking an increasingly central role in MSC Cruises' strategy, with the port of Funchal established as an important point for embarkation, disembarkation and calls on major transatlantic routes.
During a visit to the MSC Meraviglia, which arrived in Funchal and departs for Boston, USA, the company's commercial director in Portugal, Pedro Vasco, highlighted the region's importance. He said recent winters had seen continuous operations from Madeira, linked to the Canary Islands and long-haul itineraries.
For the current season, the MSC Fantasia, capable of carrying around 4,000 passengers, will be deployed. Itineraries and fares departing from Funchal are available for December 2026 to March 2027, and the company has also confirmed the future arrival of the MSC Euribia.
