GNR identifies suspect in illegal dumping of construction waste in Ribeira Brava

The GNR identified a 34-year-old man as a suspect in illegally dumping construction and demolition waste on public roads in Ribeira Brava.

The Territorial Command of Madeira of the National Republican Guard (GNR), through its Environmental Protection Unit, conducted an inspection in Campanário, Ribeira Brava, on August 11.

The operation aimed to prevent and detect infringements related to inadequate waste management, specifically illegal dumping in public spaces. During the inspection, a 34-year-old individual was identified as a suspect for abandoning construction and demolition waste (CDW) on public roads.

A formal report was drawn up and sent to the competent authority for the administrative offense process. The abandonment of CDW is considered a very serious environmental offense, punishable by substantial fines. The GNR reminds the public that waste must be taken to authorized locations and that ARM offers a free collection service. Citizens can report dumping incidents via the SOS Environment and Territory hotline.
