An abandoned building in Camacha, Santa Cruz, which was subject to illegal occupations and allegedly used as a concentration point for drug addicts, was demolished on Tuesday by IHM – Investimentos Habitacionais da Madeira.
The intervention was prompted by the safety concerns for nearby residents and the presence of combustible materials on site, posing a fire risk.
The action is part of housing improvement policies for the Nogueira neighborhood and aims to safeguard residents' safety, who had previously expressed concerns about the improper occupation of the space.
