Greenland's government has rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that "massive" oil, gas, and mineral exploration is about to begin in the Arctic territory.
According to Vice Minister of Mineral Resources, Jørgen Hammeken-Holm, while U.S. companies are conducting activities, they are "very far" from large-scale operations and may take years to yield concrete results.
Greenland possesses significant mineral resources, but large-scale exploration faces severe limitations due to extreme climate conditions, limited infrastructure, and environmental restrictions on new oil and gas licenses since 2021.
