At the opening of the III Funchal Education Seminar, Councillor Helena Leal reiterated the Funchal City Council's dedication to an educational policy focused on inclusion, participation, and creating opportunities for children and young people.
The seminar, held at Horácio Bento de Gouveia Secondary School under the theme "The school we are building," saw Leal emphasize the importance of municipal intervention complementing school efforts and involving the entire community, extending education beyond school walls through the Municipal Educational Project.
Leal also highlighted Funchal's recognition as a UNICEF Child-Friendly City and an Educating City, framing these within a strategy to ensure youth participation and promote holistic development. The municipality supports families and schools through investments in equipment, educational resources, scholarships, and training, aiming to foster citizenship and values.
Helena Leal stressed the significance of collaborative work among schools, families, and institutions, congratulating the National Teachers' Association for organizing the event and acknowledging the merit of education professionals.
