The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has extended hot weather advisories for the Madeira archipelago until 6 PM on Monday, July 6th. This extension is due to the persistence of high maximum temperatures.
The north and south coasts of Madeira Island, as well as Porto Santo Island, remain under a yellow alert. This alert is prompted by the continued high maximum temperature values.
For the mountainous regions of Madeira, an orange alert, the second most severe on the IPMA scale, remains in effect due to persistently very high maximum temperatures.
