Investimentos Habitacionais da Madeira (IHM) began the demolition of an illegal and vacant structure adjacent to Bairro da Nogueira, in Camacha, on Tuesday, August 11.
The intervention is part of policies to improve housing and safety conditions in the neighborhood. The building had been subject to unauthorized occupations and was used as a gathering place for drug addicts, causing concern among residents.
IHM also highlighted the presence of combustible materials on site, posing a fire risk. The demolition aims to safeguard the safety of the area's residents.
