IL acknowledges improvements in Machico Gastronomic Week but demands more for 600,000 euros invested

The Liberal Initiative (IL) has positively assessed the organization and use of space at this year's Machico Gastronomic Week, but believes the public investment of approximately 600,000 euros necessitates a proportional level of quality.

The party highlighted a positive evolution, with a spatial reconfiguration that restored coherence to the event's concept and offered a more organized experience. The return of restaurants and bars to their traditional locations was noted as a correction to previous choices that had hampered the event's identity and functionality.

António Nóbrega, representing the IL, stated that while improvements were made, they should represent the minimum acceptable standard. "When 600,000 euros of public money are involved, the demand must be proportional. A qualitative leap was not just desirable, but mandatory," he emphasized. The IL advocates for future editions to continue focusing on the gastronomic component, programming quality, and promoting the event as a regional benchmark, ensuring effective returns for the municipality and local economy.
