The Liberal Initiative (IL) deems the delay in the completion and approval of Machico's Municipal Master Plan (PDM) "unacceptable," one year after it was highlighted as an electoral priority.
The party criticizes the municipal executive for the delay, stating that the process has not yet reached the public discussion phase and that the absence of an updated PDM remains a structural problem for the municipality, affecting citizens and businesses with legal uncertainty.
The IL recalls that the current PDM dates back to 2005 and that the revision process has suffered successive postponements. The executive now points to the end of March 2027 for definitive approval, a deadline the IL considers unacceptable given the initial promise.
The party advocates for clear rules, regulatory stability, and a planning framework that allows for investment planning with legal certainty, criticizing the lack of a PDM that conditions decisions and prolongs administrative processes.
