Madeira's Regional Government President, Miguel Albuquerque, reacted positively to the announcement of an increase in 23,777 planned airline seats for the island in the upcoming IATA Winter. According to DIÁRIO, Madeira Airport's capacity will be strengthened from Porto, Scandinavia, Zurich, and Katowice.
Albuquerque highlighted that this increase in air capacity, despite some specific reductions, "confirms Madeira's consolidation as a year-round tourist destination." He pointed out that the presence of 52 to 54 airlines operating in the region demonstrates the island's attractiveness and its ability to draw customers.
The regional leader emphasized that airlines operate in Madeira "because they have customers" and that their presence indicates "business prospects." Albuquerque concluded that the destination is consolidated not as seasonal, but as a destination with a "consistent occupancy rate throughout the year."
