Independent Councillors Denounce Unsanitary Conditions and Insecurity in Travessa dos Ilhéus

Independent councillors for Funchal, Luís Filipe Santos and Jorge Afonso Freitas, have denounced a situation of unsanitary conditions and insecurity in Travessa dos Ilhéus, near Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.

In a statement, the councillors pointed to the accumulation of waste, which they believe compromises public health and degrades the urban space, as well as the frequent presence of drug addicts in the area. They reported a specific incident where an individual was seen in a state of disorientation.

The councillors will request the Funchal Municipal Chamber to immediately remove the waste, increase cleaning efforts, and coordinate with authorities to ensure safety and address the identified drug addiction issues, urging swift action.
