In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, 411 users benefited last year from infertility support, which guarantees a 90% co-payment on medications.
The measure, in effect since January 1, 2025, allowed the acquisition of 1,424 medications, representing an investment of over 228,000 euros. The new exceptional co-payment scheme primarily covers medications used in assisted reproduction.
The increase in public support raised the co-payment from 69% to 90%, placing these drugs in Escalão A. The Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Fonseca de Freitas, stated that the measure reflects the Regional Government's commitment to encouraging births and supporting families.
