An inspection operation targeting car rental companies took place this morning at Madeira Airport, encompassing both counters inside the terminal and vehicles and operations outside the building.
The inspection involved verifying documentation related to the activity and the vehicles, amid a period of reinforced regulations and increased public scrutiny for the sector in the Region.
Currently, Madeira Airport has eight car rental companies with physical counters in the arrivals area. The sector holds significant weight in Madeiran mobility, with a 5.5% increase in registered rental vehicles in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the previous year.
