The Youth of Juntos Pelo Povo (JJPP) accused André Ventura of adopting a "colonialist stance" and issuing an "affidavit of minority" to the people of Madeira with his recent statements on RTP Madeira. The youth organization criticized the Chega leader for "analyzing and evaluating" the performance of JPP deputy Filipe Sousa in the Assembly of the Republic, as if Madeirans were incapable of assessing their representative's work.
JJPP vice-president Diogo Monteiro stated that the organization has no need for opinions from parties seeking to "command Madeira from Lisbon." The JJPP argues that Ventura's statements contradict the facts and public reports on parliamentary performance, highlighting that Filipe Sousa successfully obtained approval for an inquiry committee request, praised by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, unlike a similar request from Chega.
The youth organization emphasizes the difference between having a large parliamentary group and effectively translating that representation into parliamentary work. The JJPP reaffirms that parliamentary representation is measured by the ability to transform a mandate into concrete work and results for the population, placing Madeira and the rights of islanders at the center of national political debate.
