José Milagres, the eternal 'Txitxo' of Marítimo, passes away

José dos Milagres de Sousa, affectionately known as 'Txitxo', one of the most emblematic and beloved figures of Club Sport Marítimo, has passed away. The news of his death became known this Tuesday, plunging the Marítimo family into mourning.

For over four decades, José Milagres was associated with the club's youth divisions, where he served as a masseur. He became a regular presence on pitches and courts, earning the friendship and respect of successive generations of players, coaches, and officials. 'Txitxo' was known for his closeness to the youngsters and a unique tradition: distributing sweets before games.

A member of Marítimo since 1994, he received the merit member distinction in 2018. In June of this year, he was the patron of the 12th edition of the Marítimo Centenary Tournament. With his passing, Marítimo loses one of its most cherished figures, whose dedication far surpassed his official duties and left a mark on the club's history.
