JPP Secretary-General Élvio Sousa stated that a robust economy in Madeira depends on competition, reduced tax burdens, and equal opportunities, rejecting any form of privilege.
During a visit to Expomadeira, Sousa voiced support for businesses, particularly SMEs, deeming them vital for regional employment and wealth creation. The party champions a free and fair market, opposing monopolies that harm the economy and consumers.
The JPP proposes that the Regional Government ensure free competition and suggests lowering VAT to ease the cost of living and reduce fiscal pressure on businesses and families, warning that excessive taxation could jeopardize the sustainability of SMEs.
