The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party gathered more than one hundred local officials and guests in Funchal for its inaugural Municipal Journeys, themed 'The JPP's Mark in Local Power'. The meeting aimed to foster experience sharing, enhance knowledge of municipal functions, and prepare elected representatives for the current term.
At the opening session, Élia Ascensão, President of the Santa Cruz Municipal Assembly, highlighted the party's growing representation in local government, citing figures showing a significant increase in elected officials since 2013. Ascensão stressed the importance of unity, loyalty, and knowledge-based political engagement, while cautioning against internal divisions and individual prominence.
The event also served to introduce the objectives of the Municipal Commission, which seeks to connect elected officials, party members, and youth, provide technical support, and promote coordinated political action. The program featured panels on the experience of being a JPP official, the challenge of effective opposition, and the voice of local representatives.
