Madeira experienced a warmer and drier June in 2026 compared to the historical average, according to data released by the Regional Statistics Directorate of Madeira (DREM).
All analyzed meteorological stations recorded temperatures above the climatological norm and precipitation levels below reference values. The highest average temperature was 22.1°C in Funchal/Observatório, and the lowest was 14.4°C in Chão do Areeiro, which also showed the largest positive deviation from the climatological norm (+2.0°C).
Regarding precipitation, Santana accumulated the most (29.2 mm), while Selvagem Grande recorded none. Chão do Areeiro had the largest negative deviation, with 29.1 mm less than usual. Relative humidity ranged from 54% (Pico do Areeiro) to 94% (Santo da Serra). The highest average wind speed was 27.6 km/h in Selvagem Grande, with gusts reaching 94 km/h at the Airport and Pico Alto.
Santa Catarina/Airport led in sunshine with 263.2 hours. The average sea water temperature in Funchal was 20.7°C.
