The Lourencinha Basic School, located in Câmara de Lobos, achieved a nationally prominent position in the environmental campaign 'Escola Electrão'. The success was driven by a strategic partnership with Forum Madeira, which supported waste collection.
During the 2025/2026 academic year, Forum Madeira provided used batteries, enabling the school to collect 299 kg of this specific material. In total, the school community gathered 1,300 kg of electrical equipment and batteries, making the school the regional leader in recycling.
The 'Escola Electrão' project, promoted by Electrão, involved students in educational activities, including the creation of environmental awareness videos. The results allow the school to acquire new electronic equipment to modernize classrooms.
The school administration and Forum Madeira intend to renew the partnership for the 2026/2027 cycle, aiming to expand the positive impact on the community and the island's environmental preservation.
