Madeira will be the stage this Saturday for a special live broadcast by TVI, airing between 2 PM and 6 PM from Funchal's Marginal Promenade. The program will reveal the Madeiran heritage sites most voted by the public, which will advance to the next stage of the competition.
The broadcast, presented by Maria Cerqueira Gomes, aims to celebrate the region's identity, history, and heritage wealth, highlighting examples of historical, architectural, cultural, and tourist heritage. Public voting can be done by phone or digitally via the TVI Pass app, costing €1 + VAT per vote.
A total of 21 sites in Madeira are competing across various categories, including castles, major works, history, religion, 20th century, 21st century, and tourism. The regional eliminations run until August 29, culminating in the selection of heritage sites that will compete in the National Phase. Luís Segadães, President of the 7 Wonders of Portugal, highlighted the opportunity to showcase a Madeira "that goes far beyond the tourist image we all know," emphasizing its identity, works, history, culture, and communities.
