Egg production in Madeira saw a significant 28% increase in the first half of 2026, reaching approximately 22.5 million units. This growth occurred across both quarters of the period, contrasting with negative developments in other sectors.

In contrast, fishing experienced a substantial decline of 19.1%, with 1,792.9 tons of fish caught. Sales value also dropped by 28%, totaling 7.6 million euros. Cattle slaughter decreased by 10.5%, while chicken slaughter remained nearly stable.
