The Madeira Congress Centre hosts the Madeira Global Forum today, marking its 10th edition and gathering over 450 participants from the Madeiran diaspora worldwide. Promoted by the Regional Government, the event's theme is ‘Roots of Identity, Bridges to the Future’, coinciding with Madeira's 50th anniversary of autonomy.
The opening session will feature the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque. A key highlight will be the inaugural Madeira Global Decoration, posthumously honouring José Luís Silva (South Africa), and recognizing entrepreneurs João de Jesus Marques Luís (United Kingdom) and Felisberto Camacho (Venezuela). The program also includes conferences on geopolitical and economic challenges, roundtables on diaspora identity and future, and the launch of volumes of the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Madeira.
