The Rectory Building of the University of Madeira (UMa) is hosting the 25th Portuguese Conference on Artificial Intelligence (EPIA 2026), running from today until Friday. The event brings together researchers, engineers, students, and professionals to discuss AI advancements and challenges.

Organized by UMa with support from the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA), the conference aims to promote research in various AI fields, from theoretical issues to practical applications, serving as a space for international scientific exchange.

The agenda covers topics such as AI applied to Architecture, Engineering, Law, Industry, Medicine, and Transport Systems, alongside discussions on Ethics, Generative AI, and Human-Centric AI. The program features plenary sessions, debate panels, and a student symposium, with APPIA scholarships awarded to support young talent.
