The Autonomous Region of Madeira will host, on July 7th, the Official Activation Ceremony for Madeira within the scope of the 1st Vulnerable Childhood Forum of Macaronesia. The event, aimed at reinforcing the commitment of the Macaronesian archipelagos to the protection of vulnerable children and young people, will take place at the Conservatório – Escola das Artes da Madeira Eng.º Luiz Peter Clode, in Funchal.
This initiative marks Madeira's formal accession as the third territory to join this cooperation project, which already includes Madeira, the Canary Islands, and Cape Verde, with the Azores joining in September. The goal is to create a joint strategy to address the challenges affecting childhood and adolescence in the Macaronesian region, promoting the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
The process will culminate in November 2026 with the first edition of the Forum in Cidade Velha, Cape Verde. The cooperation among the involved territories will extend until 2030, with the main outcome being the development of the White Paper on Vulnerable Childhood in Macaronesia.
