The Madeira Photography Museum Atelier Vicente s was full to mark World Photography Day, celebrated on August 19th. The initiative focused on 19th-century photographic processes, showcasing Madeira's photographic heritage.
The event, a collaboration with Sintra's Five Historic Photography Studio, was led by Filipe Barroso and Vera Gonçalves. It explored the evolution of photography, highlighting the wet collodion technique and paying tribute to Madeiran photography pioneers such as Vicente Gomes da Silva, Joaquim Augusto de Sousa, and João Francisco Camacho.
Following the talk, attendees witnessed practical demonstrations of the 19th-century technique, observing the various stages of the process. Further talks are scheduled for August 18th and 19th.
