The president of Madeira's Socialist Party (PS-Madeira), Célia Pessegueiro, has criticized the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, for being "unambitious" and "poorly" negotiating with the Prime Minister, resulting in a State Budget that is "not at all favorable to Madeira."
Pessegueiro highlighted the lack of funding for the new Hospital, increased housing funds, and inclusion in the PTRR (Portugal Transformation, Recovery and Resilience), stating that Albuquerque "is doing a disservice to Madeira" by accepting the national budget terms.
The socialist leader pointed out that the funding for the new Hospital, based on a 2018 ordinance, does not keep pace with the project's rising costs. She also criticized the absence of funds from the PTRR and for housing, areas where she claims the Regional Government has not invested significantly.
