The median rent for new family accommodation lease agreements in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) saw a 6.8% increase in the second quarter of this year, reaching 12.78 euros per square meter. This rise occurred despite a 5.2% decrease in the number of new contracts signed compared to the previous quarter.
Data released by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM), based on information from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), shows 456 new contracts were signed between April and June. Compared to the same period in 2025, the median rent rose by 17.4%.
When compared to other NUTS II regions, RAM ranked second for the highest median rent, following only Greater Lisbon. Funchal, specifically, accounted for most new contracts and had a median rent of €14.49/m², placing the city third nationally for highest rental prices.
