The reinforcement of economic relations between Madeira and Belgium, along with identifying new cooperation opportunities, were central themes during a meeting between the Regional Secretary for Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, and the Belgian Ambassador to Portugal, Bart Lammens.
The discussion covered the evolution of the regional economy, Madeira's attractiveness factors, and the economic diversification process, with emphasis on areas such as new technologies, the blue economy, and the well-being sector. The need to deepen the European Union and relations between member states was also addressed.
Ambassador Lammens highlighted the potential for strengthening economic ties, pointing to tourism, the blue economy, and the digital sector as areas with concrete opportunities. A business mission organized by the Portuguese-Belgian Chamber of Commerce, based in Brussels, is scheduled for October 7-9, aiming to foster connections between Belgian and Madeiran companies and economic agents.
