The PTP (Portuguese Labour Party) has denounced that, on certain dates, the cost of flying between Funchal and Lisbon or Porto is higher than traveling to various European cities.
According to the party, Madeirans pay more for domestic travel than international. A search for October 4th showed direct Funchal-Paris flights costing between 22 and 98 euros, while Funchal-Lisbon flights ranged from 175 to 374 euros.
The situation is worsened by the easyJet strike from October 2nd to 6th, with reports of Funchal-Lisbon flights reaching 868 euros and connections to Porto exceeding 800 euros, with several flights sold out.
The PTP criticized the silence of autonomist parties on the matter and demanded price oversight and a statement from all represented parties.
