Madeira's year-on-year inflation eased to 4.1% in August, but the pace of price increases remains higher than the national average.

Inflation in the Autonomous Region of Madeira slowed in August, with the year-on-year variation of the Consumer Price Index (IPC) standing at 4.1%. This figure represents a decrease of 0.6 percentage points compared to July.

Despite this slowdown, the price increase in Madeira continued to surpass the national average, which recorded a year-on-year inflation of 3.3% during the same period. Data released by the Regional Statistics Directorate of Madeira (DREM) also indicate that the average 12-month variation rate rose to 3.7%.

The categories with the highest average price variation over the last 12 months were "Restaurants and accommodation services" (7.6%), "Transport" (6.0%), and "Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels" (4.0%). The "Information and communication" class was the only one to register a negative variation (-1.5%).
