Madeira's PS Questions ADSE Table Updates' Impact on Cancer Treatments

The Socialist Party's parliamentary group in Madeira has submitted a request for clarification to the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Freitas. The initiative aims to ascertain the potential impacts of the ADSE table update, concerning oncological medications and effective since October 1st, on beneficiaries' access to and continuity of treatments within the region.

MP Marta Freitas, spokesperson for the PS, highlighted concerns raised by the '30 de Julho – National Association of ADSE Beneficiaries', with whom the party recently met. Discussions covered changes to the tables, information provided to beneficiaries, and the necessity of preventing increased difficulties in accessing healthcare.

The PS request seeks information on the Regional Government's assessment of the update's effects, communications with ADSE and other entities, and measures to prevent obstacles. The party also wants to know about mechanisms to identify refusals, delays, or unavailability of contracted providers, including for beneficiaries requiring treatment in mainland Portugal, where travel for Madeiran patients has doubled in the last decade, with oncology being a primary reason.
