Madeira's Regional Public Administration Surplus Drops 85.2% to €13.6 Million by May 2026

The Madeira Regional Public Administration reported a global surplus of 13.6 million euros in the first five months of 2026. This figure marks a significant decrease of 85.2% compared to the same period in 2025, when the surplus reached 92.2 million euros.

Consolidated effective revenues amounted to 705.9 million euros, while effective expenses totaled 692.3 million euros. The reduction in the overall balance is primarily attributed to the Regional Government's performance, which shifted from a surplus of 59.4 million euros in May 2025 to a deficit of 17.8 million euros in the corresponding period of 2026. Conversely, Autonomous Services and Funds, along with Reclassified Public Entities, contributed a combined surplus of 31.4 million euros.
