The Madeira SkyPark tourist project, planned for the area between Curral das Freiras and Jardim da Serra, has reached a new stage in its licensing process. The Câmara de Lobos Municipal Council has issued a conditionally favorable opinion on the urban development operation.
Project promoters view this decision as a "relevant advance" and a "very relevant milestone" for the venture. The project includes plans for a cable car system, an adventure park, a nature interpretation center, and a zipline, covering the areas of Curral das Freiras, Miradouro do Paredão, and Boca da Corrida.
The Madeira SkyPark aims to enhance the territory, diversify the regional tourism offerings, and promote understanding of the natural and landscape heritage. Despite facing some opposition regarding potential environmental and scenic impacts, the project is presented as an investment with the potential to boost the region's economic and social development.
